I apologize to any Michael Bay haters out there but I actually enjoyed both of his Transformers films, even though they were a bit childish and centered more on the military action than the huge robots. I thought they were really well filmed (loved the gritty atmosphere) and the special effects were out of this world, and lets face it the special effects are the sole reason you would go and see a transformers film in the first place. I thought the first installment was kind of slow on the action front and ultimately didn’t really see much of it, but set up the foundations of what is seeming to be a very lucrative film franchise for Bay and co. Whereas the second film (Revenge of the Fallen) made up for the lack of action ten fold, that ultimately became its down fall (also not helped by the trash talking twins Skids and Mudflap), as the sequel seemed to peak way too early on the action front which then couldn’t really be matched for the rest of the film (even the end battle between Optimus, Megatron and the Fallen didn’t even come close to the forest brawl fun).
Michael Bays next venture is as you’ve no doubt heard the third (and final?) transformers film in the series Transformers Dark of the Moon. Which brings returning autobots Optimus Prime, Bumblee, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Sideswipe aswell as some welcome new arrivals Sentinel Prime, Roadbuster, Leadfoot, Topspin and Silverbolt. Also not forgetting the returning Decepticons Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and welcoming the fan favourite Shockwave and Crankcase, aswell as plenty of cannon fodder for the autobots.
Now thats the robots out of the way (who cares about them anyway) we can’t forget the humans of the story. Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has now ditched his two film girlfriend Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox), has graduated university and now has a job in the big city with boss Bruce (John Malkovich) and new girlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley). Also returning are Major Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and Sargent Epps (Tyrese Gibson) as they continue to fight with NEST hunting down rogue decepticons. Little do they know something bigger is coming and it is up to Sam and the autobots once again to save the planet from imminent doom.
