With the film Cowboys & Aliens soon to be released at the cinemas, Jon Favreau shows no signs of showing off the aliens in the film anytime soon. The only glimpse so far has been in the most recent trailer where we get a quick look at an alien hand. From the looks of these alien fingers it is easy to tell that these aliens aren’t going to bring anything new to the table. As alien originality goes these days…there is none. Everyone seems to follow the same outline (Bulbous head and skeletal figure) as shown in Alien, War of the Worlds, ET, Signs, and even the new battle LA (even though these try something different by adding a mechanical element). Its not often that films venture far from these standard alien blueprints and I feel like iv’e seen it all before. So when Cowboys & Aliens finally hits the cinema on July 29th I’m hoping to see something different, though I wont hold my breath.
Cowboys & Aliens is an upcoming film by Iron Man director Jon Favreau. It’s based on the 2006 graphic novel of the same name, this original take on the western genre starts out with Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) dazed and confused in the desert with alien technology strapped to his arm and surrounded by a gang of theives. With no idea as to what happened to him Jake sets off to the nearest town to find clues but soon runs into more trouble in the form of Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). But the locals soon loose interest in the stranger Jake when there town is attacked by unknown alien ships resulting in half of the town being abducted. Soon after Jake, Woodrow and a few others Ella (Olivia Wilde) and Doc (Sam Rockwell), to name a few, set off on a mission to find out who these alien invaders are, what they want and how todrive them off their planet. By the looks of it though Jake (Craig) has a more personal journey to pursue.
From what I’ve seen of this film so far, and from the caliber of actors involved (Ford, Craig and Rockwell to name a few) this film has allot going for it. The darker vibe I got from the most recent trailer has also spiked my interests even more. If Iron Man is anything to go by I have high hopes for this film and think it is an assured hit on July 29 when it finally hits cinemas.
Cowboys & Aliens the upcoming film by Jon Favreau (Iron Man) has just released its second trailer and it looks good, though the music in the trailer kind of reminds me of Iron Man. In this trailer we get to see the darker side to the story, namely the aliens abducting people using lasso esque devices and hanging them from the ceiling of a building, alive or dead who knows. The more I see and hear of this film the more I like, and seeing Daniel Craig kick more ass assures me that this film won’t be short of a few action scenes.
